Phantom of the Opera

Phantom of the Opera is a novel written by a French writer Gaston Leroux. It is the story about a girl named Christine. She and her father travel across different towns and play the violin on weddings and different occasions. Her father would tell Christine different stories which would often include an Angel of Music.

When Christine’s father dies, she gets a position as a singer in the Paris Opera House. She starts hearing a voice who teaches her heavenly music. She thinks that the voice is of the Angel of Music but it actually belongs to Erik who was in the construction crew of the Opera house. He built himself a place in the cellar of the opera house and would scare off everyone by pretending to be a ghost. He is known as the Phantom of the Opera.

Erik falls in love with Christine and forces her to marry him. Christine, however, is in love with her childhood friend Raoul. Erik threatens her to kill everyone in the house if she doesn’t marry her to which Christine agrees. In the end, Erik realizes his mistake and sets Christine free. He tells her to go and marry the love of her life.
